Longest pregnancy

Guinea pigs are unique in many different ways. People have recorded that a guinea pigs pregnancy is the longest in the whole entire rodent family!

Long lives

Guinea pigs can live up to 5 years with proper care, and a good diet!!! Some can rarely live up to 8 years!Surprised

Born with everything

One of the coolest facts about the guinea pig, is that when the guinea pigs are born, they are born with teeth, thick, lush fur, eyes opened, ears opened, and ready to eat as soon as they come out of their mother. The baby guinea pigs first open their eyes in their mother's womb 14 days before they are born; most other rodents (Even mammals that aren't rodents) come out of their mother with no fur, eyes closed, ears closed, and can only drink their mother milk. You may ask "Why do they come out of their mother with everything 'ready to go' "? In the wild, they are born ready to run because, having no defense, they have to be ready to run from predators.

Litter box

Because guinea pigs are quite intelligent, they can be trained to use the litter box at a young age. This has to include a persistent and patient owner. At meal time, guinea pigs can learn that when you open the fridge, that food comes from there. They can also see basic colors (Red, yellow, green, blue). You have to admit, that's pretty interesting for something that small!
