How to become close you your guinea pig

The first step to a relationship with your guinea pig roots from trust. Once your guinea pig trusts you, then its really easy from there. First you must gently stroke your pig with your hand. Then try feeding her (or him) from your hand. Food really helps trust because as you know guinea pigs like to eat. Once your guinea pig trusts you, you may pick it up and cuddle it. Remember that guinea pigs like to get affection from you and attention every day. Listed below are some great things to do with your guinea pig while you are holding it. (Also helps trust)

Treats = Love

Your guinea pig loves to eat, eat, eat. It could eat all day if it had its way. Every now and then feed her some carrot or lettuce from the hand, and the guinea pig will love you for it. Make sure to feed it enough greens so it doesn't get constapated (cant leave waste)

The good old lap

Every day or as much as you can, take you pig out of it's cage and plop on the couch with a good book or newspaper. Even if you aren't petting your pet, it will still enjoy sitting with you. (Just make sure to only hold your g-pig 10-15 minutes because it may leak on you)

Stroking

Guinea pigs LOVE to be stroked and petted (gently). Try to squeeze in some love for your pet at lease once a day if possible. Five minutes is good enough, better than nothing at all. Guinea pigs are very social animals, and they crave love and attention from their owners.
